よくいろんな人の口から、どことなく腹立たしげに発せられる疑問。「どうしておばあちゃんは髪を紫にするのか」。

個人的には、実際に紫の髪のおばあちゃんを見ると、けっこうキレイだと思ってしまうのだが、それにしても、どうして「紫色」なのか。

美容師さんに疑問を投げてみると、
「たいていはご本人が希望するっていうより、美容師がすすめるんだと思いますよ」
とのこと。実際、これまですすめたケースはかなりあると言う。
「髪が白くなってくると、日本人の黒髪の場合、黄色みが残ってしまいやすいから、どうしてもばさついて見えちゃうんですよね」

欧米人の金髪などは、キレイな白になりやすいが、黄色みのある白髪はツヤがないように見える。そこで、ツヤを出すために、紫色にするのだとか。
「紫色っていっても、どぎつい紫はダメ。青に近い上品な紫色というのが、ツヤが出ていいですね」
ちなみに、紫色の他に、日本人の白髪にキレイに映えるのは、薄いピンク色だとか。

ところで、ちょっと疑問。頭が真っ白になったら、そもそもカラーに染めなければいけないのか。真っ白を黒髪に染めるのは難しいの？
「いえ、それはありません。ただ、せっかく髪が全部、白くなったのなら、それを黒く染めちゃうんじゃなく、白の美しさを大事にしようということです」
ならば、いっそのこと、脱色して真っ白にしちゃえば？　とも思うが、
「脱色では、ますますツヤがなくなって、ばさばさになります」とキッパリ。

おばあちゃんの髪の紫色は、選ばれしノーブルな色のようでした。
